Volleyball Game Preview: Shadow Mountain Matadors vs. Paradise Honors Panthers

Shadow Mountain is 1-7 against Paradise Honors since October of 2020 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. After both having extra time off, the two teams will shake off the cobwebs and hit the court against one another at 6:00 p.m. Paradise Honors took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Shadow Mountain, who comes in off a win.

Shadow Mountain will bounce into Thursday's contest after beating Greenway, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. The Matadors put the hurt on the Demons with a sharp 3-0 victory on Wednesday.

Shadow Mountain not only won, but also showed off some consistency: they kept Greenway between 17 and 19 points across their sets. The final score came out to 25-17, 25-18, 25-19.

Meanwhile, Paradise Honors came up short against Thunderbird on Thursday and fell 3-1. The Panthers have struggled against the Titans recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive lost matchup.

Paradise Honors started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 23-25, 25-23, 25-21, 26-24.

Shadow Mountain will have to contain Isabella Staudinger-Hughes as she made an impact in Paradise Honors' last game. She had 20 digs and five assists.

Shadow Mountain's win ended a three-match drought on the road and puts them at 8-9. As for Paradise Honors, their defeat was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 4-1 and their overall record down to 21-12.
