Basketball Recap: Plant Takes a Loss

If Plant was riding high fresh off their 69-45 takedown of Tampa Bay Tech last Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Plant Panthers lost to the Blake Yellow Jackets on the road by a 57-41 margin on Tuesday. The Panthers haven't had much luck with the Yellow Jackets recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.

Joe Philon continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Blake, dropping a double-double on 21 points and 15 rebounds. Philon's evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Marion Ward was another key player, putting up 14 points.

Plant's defeat dropped their record down to 18-6. As for Blake, their victory was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 19-3.

Plant does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Blake, they will square off against Oak Ridge at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. Blake knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past four matchups -- so hopefully Oak Ridge likes a good challenge.
