Volleyball Game Preview: Southwest DeKalb Panthers vs. Arabia Mountain Rams

Southwest DeKalb hasn't had much luck against Arabia Mountain recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Panthers will venture away from home to take on the Rams at 5:30 p.m. Southwest DeKalb will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.

On Thursday, Southwest DeKalb earned a 2-0 win over Stone Mountain.

The 2-0 score doesn't show just how dominant Southwest DeKalb was: they took both sets by at least 12 points. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-13, 25-12.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Southwest DeKalb to victory, but perhaps none more so than Janai Townes, who had ten assists and eight aces. Townes is on a roll when it comes to aces, as she's now served four or more in each of the last five games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Aivah Peters, who had five aces and three digs.

They weren't the only good servers: Southwest DeKalb was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 16 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least 11 aces in five consecutive matches.

Meanwhile, Arabia Mountain came up short against Druid Hills on Thursday and fell 2-0. The Rams haven't had much luck with the Red Devils recently, as the team has come up short the last six times they've met.

The match finished with set scores of 25-4, 25-8.

Arabia Mountain's defeat dropped their record down to 5-14. As for Southwest DeKalb, their record now sits at 17-11.

Southwest DeKalb couldn't quite get it done against Arabia Mountain in their previous matchup back in August as they fell 2-0. Can the Panthers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
