Baseball Recap: Banning Beats Cathedral City for Their Sixth Straight Win

Banning entered their tilt with Cathedral City on Monday with five consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with six. They blew past the Lions 12-1. The Broncos might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four contests by ten runs or more this season.

Sebastian Osornio and Marquis Stewart-Vaughn made a big impact no matter where they played. Throwing, Osornio tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. Meanwhile, Stewart-Vaughn pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Furthermore, he didn't allow a single walk, the first time he has blanked an opponent since back in May of 2024. At the plate, Osornio scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-2, while Stewart-Vaughn scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

In other batting news, Cody Gutierrez was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-3. Another player making a difference was Joe Clark, who scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Banning always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .545. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .531 or higher in three consecutive games.

Banning pushed their record up to 7-2 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.5 runs on average over those games. As for Cathedral City, their defeat was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 2-8.
