Baseball Recap: Dunlap's Loss Ends Seven-Game Winning Streak at Home

Dunlap dropped their record down to 17-7 on Wednesday, which also ended the team's seven-game streak of wins at home. They fell just short of the Washington Panthers by a score of 3-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Eagles have suffered since March 21st.

Dunlap saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jackson Newton, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI.

As for Washington, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine games. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-7 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games.

On Washington's side, Gavin Lawrence made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out ten batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. Lawrence has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with one home run.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Dunlap will venture away from home to face off against Canton at 4:15 p.m. on Thursday. As for Washington, they will head out to square off against Rochester at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
