Baseball Recap: Sarasota Snaps Six-Game Streak of Wins at Home

Sarasota and Alonso squared off in some playoff action on Wednesday, but Sarasota had to settle for second. They fell 3-0 to the Ravens.

Cesar Garmendia was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he pitched six innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off eight hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Sarasota saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Mark Metcalf, who went 1-for-3 with one triple.

Sarasota's loss ended a six-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 22-7-1. As for Alonso, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-11 record this season.

While Sarasota had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
