Softball Recap: Cypress Ranch Wins Going Away Against Cypress Springs

Cypress Ranch never let their opponents score on Friday. They put the hurt on the Cypress Springs Panthers with a sharp 15-0 victory. Considering the Mustangs have won seven contests by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Rylie Tran made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 14 consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in RBI (three).

In other batting news, Ryleigh Senegal was a standout: she went a perfect 2-for-2 with four RBI and two runs. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April of 2024. Dani Garza was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

Cypress Ranch always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .710. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Cypress Springs only posted an OBP of .000.

Cypress Ranch has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-7 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. Cypress Springs dropped their record down to 1-9-1 with the loss, which was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season.

Looking ahead, Cypress Ranch will welcome Cypress Park at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Cypress Ranch is facing Cypress Park at the right time seeing as Cypress Park is stuck on a nine-game losing streak. As for Cypress Springs, they will challenge Bridgeland at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
