Football Recap: San Juan Hills Starts Season with Win Against Chaparral + How To Watch

San Juan Hills took care of business in their home opener on Friday. They secured a 38-33 W over the Chaparral Pumas.

San Juan Hills had a senior duo take command as Timmy Herr threw for 255 yards and three TDs while picking up 10.6 yards per attempt and Elijah Ayala rushed for 128 yards and one touchdown on only 12 carries. Ayala really tore up the turf during one magnificent 80-yard run. A healthy portion of Herr's aerial production (80 yards to be exact) went to Ryan Matheson, who also brought in a receiving touchdown.

Despite the loss, Chaparral still got an impressive performance from Dane Weber, who rushed for 104 yards and a pair of scores on only 12 carries, and also threw for 290 yards and a pair of TDs while picking up 12.6 yards per attempt. The Pumas' leading receiver Michael ( Kiko ) Farinas was Weber's top target yet again, picking up 111 receiving yards and one touchdown.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. San Juan Hills will square off against Roosevelt at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Chaparral, they will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on San Clemente at 7:00 p.m. on September 5.
