Basketball Game Preview: Waldron Mohawks vs. Tri Titans

The Waldron Mohawks will head out on the road to take on the Tri Titans at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. Waldron is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 50.8 points per game this season.

Last Thursday, Waldron was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 59-54 to North Decatur. The Mohawks have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Eli Stewart, who went 5 of 11 on his way to 17 points and five rebounds. Those 17 points gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Lucas Shaw, who went 5 for 12 to rack up 16 points and three steals.

Meanwhile, Tri entered their contest against Frankton on Thursday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. Tri took a hard 63-44 fall against Frankton.

The loss was their first at home , dropping their record down to 12-5. As for Waldron, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-9.

Waldron didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against Tri when the teams last played back in February of 2024, but they still walked away with a 60-56 victory. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Tri's Josiah Cox, who went 8 of 14 from beyond the arc en route to 31 points.
