Basketball Game Preview: Diamond Bar Brahmas vs. Claremont Wolfpack

Diamond Bar is on a three-game streak of home losses, Claremont a five-game streak of away losses, but someone's luck will change on Tuesday. The Diamond Bar Brahmas will host the Claremont Wolfpack at 6:30 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Last Thursday, Diamond Bar came up short against Walnut and fell 81-71. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Tuesday (61), the Brahmas still had to take the loss.

Meanwhile, Claremont also suffered a loss in their last game, but this one to Ayala by a score of 63-51. While losing is never fun, the Wolfpack can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 859th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 335th).

Diamond Bar will have to keep a close watch on Tyler Zitar and Hugo Montejo, a pair of players who had a big impact on Claremont's prior game. Zitar went 6 for 9 en route to 14 points and seven rebounds, while Montejo went 9 of 14 on his way to 19 points and three steals. That's the most steals Montejo has posted since back in January of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Tristan Sulca, who posted six points.

Diamond Bar's loss dropped their record down to 9-17. As for Claremont, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-17.

Diamond Bar was able to grind out a solid victory over Claremont when the teams last played back in January, winning 64-55. Does Diamond Bar have another victory up their sleeve, or will Claremont turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
