Recap: Mobile Christian Leopards vs. Beulah Bobcats
It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but the Mobile Christian Leopards had no problem doing just that on Friday. They blew past Beulah 52-7 at home. Mobile Christian's win was nothing new given the team hasn't lost yet this season.
Mobile Christian found their leader in underclassman PJ Brown, who rushed for 155 yards and two touchdowns on only ten carries. Brown's longest rush was for an incredible 72 yards. Damien Gatson was another key contributor, throwing for 192 yards and two touchdowns while completing 75% of his passes.
Mobile Christian has yet to lose a matchup at home this season, leaving them with a 11-0 record. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 1-9 Monroe County and 1-8 Munroe (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 38.9% over those games). As for Beulah, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost six of their last eight matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-7 record this season.
Mobile Christian will square off against Houston Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Houston Academy is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune. Beulah does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
