Basketball Recap: Lake Placid Takes a Loss

If Lake Placid was riding high fresh off their 62-28 takedown of Willsboro Central last Wednesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Lake Placid Bombers took a 63-47 bruising from the Seton Catholic Central Knights on Friday. The Bombers have struggled against the Knights recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive lost matchup.

Despite the loss, Lake Placid still got an impressive performance from Seb Cecunjanin, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and ten boards. The matchup was Cecunjanin's eighth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Owen Hayes, who went 5 for 6 on his way to 12 points.

Michael Mannix was his usual excellent self, going 7 of 13 from beyond the arc en route to 44 points for Seton Catholic Central. That makes it seven consecutive games in which Mannix has scored at least a third of Seton Catholic Central's points. Oliver Hughes was another key player, going 5 for 11 on his way to 12 points along with eight assists and seven rebounds.

Lake Placid's loss dropped their record down to 2-11. As for Seton Catholic Central, their record now sits at 8-5.

Lake Placid will face off against Wells at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Wells will roll in looking for their ninth straight victory, something Lake Placid surely won't give up without a fight. As for Seton Catholic Central, they will square off against Warrensburg at 6:30 p.m. on Monday.
