Basketball Recap: Marshall County's Win on Friday Extends Winning Streak to Three

Marshall County waltzed into their game on Friday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They blew past the Wayne County Wildcats 68-47. The Tigers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four contests by 21 points or more this season.

Marshall County's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jamahl Gentry led the charge by going 8 of 11 on his way to 20 points and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Jayce Harney, who went 5 of 9 en route to 12 points along with five boards and five steals.

Despite the loss, Wayne County still got an impressive performance from Sayler Skelton, who went 7 of 13 on his way to 19 points and three steals. That's the most points Skelton has posted since back in November of 2023. Another player making a difference was Logan Davis, who went 6 of 9 on his way to 14 points.

Marshall County's win bumped their record up to 8-2. As for Wayne County, with the defeat, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 7-4.

Marshall County wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 71-68 loss against Eagleville on the 28th. As for Wayne County, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 60-55 victory against Lincoln County on the 28th.
