The Lewis Cass Kings will head out to face off against the Southwood Knights at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
On Tuesday, Lewis Cass didn't have quite enough to beat Pioneer and fell 4-3.
Alisha Toops was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: she pitched six innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off three hits.

At the plate, Ava Hubner was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played. Hannah Zamora also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen bases of the season.
Meanwhile, Southwood waltzed into their contest on Monday with five straight wins... but they left with six. They came out on top against the Wildcats by a score of 5-1. That's two games straight that the Knights have won by exactly four runs.
Natalie Sutphin spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on five hits.
On the hitting side, Gracie Lambert was incredible, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Rowan Goodpasture, who went 1-for-4 with two runs and one double.
Southwood's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-3. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games. As for Lewis Cass, they have been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last nine matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-8 record this season.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Wednesday. Lewis Cass hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.4 home runs per game. However, it's not like Southwood struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 0.5 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Lewis Cass beat Southwood 5-2 in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. Will the Kings repeat their success, or do the Knights have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
