Football Recap: Lampasas Starts off Right with Win over Fredericksburg

Lampasas had to kick off their season on the road on Friday, but they showed no ill effects. They took their game with ease, bagging a 52-14 win over the Fredericksburg Billies. The matchup was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 38-7.

Lampasas' win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Bryson Roberts, who threw for 189 yards and four TDs, and also rushed for 74 yards and one touchdown on only nine carries. Jaden McElwain also helped with three scores in total.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Lampasas was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 275 rushing yards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Fredericksburg only rushed for 105 rushing yards.

Lampasas didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Jonathan Bowling and Sean Smith. Corbin Kepler was another major factor on D, picking up a sack and making nine total tackles (2.0 for loss).

Several Billies players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Griffin Beard, who picked up 86 receiving yards and a pair of TDs.

Coming up, Lampasas will face off against Salado at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The two teams might be coming in a bit winded given these two teams combined for 1,167 yards in their previous games. As for Fredericksburg, they will square off against Wimberley at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
