Mathis entered their tilt with West Oso on Friday with five consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with six. They never let the Bears get on the board and left with an 18-0 victory. That's the third time they've managed to beat them this season, with their most recent win being a 18-0 victory back in March.

Alyssa Herrera made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out nine over 5.2 innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in nine consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while going 3-for-4. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 1.1 stolen bases per game.

In other batting news, Mathis let Marivel Martinez and Leilani Cantu run wild. Martinez went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, four RBI, and two runs, while Cantu scored four runs and stole three bases while going 2-for-4. That's the most stolen bases Martinez has posted since back in April of 2024. Angelina Hernandez was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-4.

Mathis always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .658. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as West Oso only posted an OBP of .300.

Mathis pushed their record up to 12-6-1 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 17.0 runs over those games. As for West Oso, they are on a 12-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-18.

Mathis wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, an 11-10 win against Odem on the 8th. As for West Oso, they have also already played their next game, a 13-3 defeat against Taft on the 8th.
