Softball Recap: Wasatch Wasps vs. Clearfield Falcons

With a playoff game on the line, Wasatch rose to the challenge on Monday. They beat the Clearfield Falcons by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 3-0. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Wasatch also won the last time the pair played last Saturday.

The result came thanks to Hallie McNaughtan's shutout, as she gave up just four hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive pitching appearances.

On the hitting side, Wasatch's victory was truly a team effort as three different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Mali Evans, who scored a run while going 1-for-1.

On Clearfield's side, Jenna Lloyd spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on three hits and racked up nine Ks.

The win made it two in a row for Wasatch and bumps their season record up to 7-19. As for Clearfield, they dropped their record down to 11-15 with that defeat, which was their third straight at home.

Wasatch will have a chance to go back-to-back against Clearfield: the pair will be back at it again later today.
