There wasn't a lot of overall movement in the power rankings this week, but with 16 teams changing position, that doesn't mean the week lacked for thrills. We'll tackle all that (plus a new number one team) in this week's report.
No Stoppin 'Em
Soldotna has been an offensive powerhouse for seven straight weeks after the team lit up the scoreboard again last week. It picked up a decisive 'W' against Kenai Central, finishing up at 72 - 24. At 48 points, that marked Soldotna's largest margin of victory so far this year. The combined 96-point effort made this the highest-scoring game in the power rankings for the week.
This Week's Big Showdown
One of last week's main attractions was the confrontation between East and Service, 1st and 9th in the power rankings, respectively. East enjoyed a cozy 42 - 27 win over Service. As a result, East rose one spot in the power rankings.
Can't Touch This
Bartlett gave both Juneau-Douglas/Thunder Mountain and its quarterback (sacked four times) a rough time last week. The final score between Bartlett and Juneau-Douglas/Thunder Mountain was a 65 - 12 blowout in Bartlett's favor. Bartlett had two big standouts, as senior Elijah Lear rushed for 137 yards and two touchdowns, while senior Hunter Cargill rushed for 135 yards and scored on one reception. Senior Elijah Lear was a key playmaker for Bartlett. One of the top players in the power rankings for the week, he earned two touchdowns and 137 yards rushing the ball.
