Basketball Recap: Columbus Homeschool Drops Season-High Score on Southwestern

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Columbus HomeSchool). They took down the Southwestern Spartans 59-40 on Thursday. The high-flying offensive performance was a huge turnaround for the Hawks considering their 25-point performance the matchup before.

Columbus HomeSchool found their leader in sophomore Brooklyn Barnes, who dropped a double-double on 27 points and 11 boards. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Barnes has scored all season. Brianna Lancaster was another key player, putting up 16 points in addition to six assists and five rebounds.

Columbus HomeSchool was working as a unit and finished the game with 16 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Southwestern's loss came despite strong showings from Tanna Tatlock and Hayden Ramey. Tatlock dropped a double-double on 18 points and 16 boards, while Ramey posted nine points. That was a full 45% of Southwestern's points, marking the 14th time in a row she's had more than a third of the team's points.

The victory got Columbus HomeSchool back to even at 2-2. As for Southwestern, they are on a ten-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-13.

Columbus HomeSchool wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 37-34 win against Tindley on the 3rd. Southwestern has also already played their next contest, a 38-33 defeat against Hagerstown on the 3rd.
