Recap: Washington Rams vs. Copper Canyon Aztecs

The Washington Rams lost against the Copper Canyon Aztecs back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. Washington took a 58-48 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Aztecs. Washington has struggled against the Aztecs recently, as their match on Tuesday was their third consecutive lost matchup.

Several Rams players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Amaya Yazzie, who scored 12 points. Zaila Lee was another key contributor, scoring ten points.

Copper Canyon was led to victory by Bri'ann Felix and Zalaya Dupre. Felix dropped a double-double on 23 points and 13 rebounds, while Dupre dropped a double-double on 29 points and 18 rebounds. That makes it ten consecutive games in which Felix has scored at least a third of Copper Canyon's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jasmin Colter, who scored three points along with ten rebounds and four steals.

Washington has not been sharp recently as the team's lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-7 record this season. As for Copper Canyon, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 12-11.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Washington will take on the Kings at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Copper Canyon, they will head out on the road to challenge the Firebirds at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Arizona (Chaparral is ranked 185th, while the Aztecs are ranked 183rd).
