Hueytown has gone a perfect 10-0 against Bessemer City recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Monday. The Golden Gophers will head out to face off against the Tigers at 4:00 p.m. After the two teams made easy work of their previous opponents, one won't be so lucky on Monday.
Hueytown can't be too worried about heading out to take on Bessemer City: they just beat McAdory at home, who had been dominant on their own field up to that point. The Golden Gophers blew past the Yellowjackets 13-1 on Thursday. The Golden Gophers not only won on Thursday, but they posted their biggest win since March 7th.

Bryanna Kemp made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched five innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 1-for-4.
In other batting news, Madison Smith was a standout: she scored two runs while going 3-for-4. K Burch was another key player, scoring three runs while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.
Hueytown was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .448. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as McAdory only posted a batting average of .267.
Fans were treated to a battle of the Tigers on Thursday. Bessemer City's pitcher stepped up to hand Fairfield a 7-0 shutout. The victory continues a trend for Bessemer City in their matchups with Fairfield: they've now won three in a row.
Like Hueytown, Bessemer City also got a great game from a two-way player: Whitley Phillips. She tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Phillips was even better at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while going 1-for-1. She also put up a double, which was her first of the season.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Rihanna Davis, who scored two runs and stole three bases while going 2-for-2. Those hits marked the first that she got this season. Another player making a difference was Janiyah Goines, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one stolen base and one RBI.
Hueytown's record now sits at 15-10. As for Bessemer City, their record is now 4-2.
Monday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Hueytown hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .332. However, it's not like Bessemer City struggles in that department as they've averaged .320. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Everything went Hueytown's way against Bessemer City in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, as Hueytown made off with a 16-0 win. Will the Golden Gophers repeat their success, or do the Tigers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
