Basketball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Logan Baldwin and Steve Boggs Lead Braxton County to Victory

Braxton County waltzed into their matchup on Wednesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They came within five points of losing the streak, but they secured a 59-54 W against the Roane County Raiders. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 55-43 back in January.

Leading Braxton County to victory were Steve Boggs and Logan Baldwin. Boggs dropped a double-double with 16 points and 13 rebounds, while Baldwin went 6-for-12 to rack up 15 points and six assists. Baldwin continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Jamie Nettles was another key player, putting up four points and ten boards.

Braxton County smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 12 offensive boards in three consecutive contests.

Despite the loss, Roane County still got an impressive performance from Cam Cumpston, who dropped a double-double with 26 points and 12 rebounds. The dominant performance gave Cumpston a new career-high in boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Will Odle, who posted ten points.

Braxton County's record now sits at 13-4. As for Roane County, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five games, which has put a noticeable dent in their 4-11 record this season.

Coming up, Braxton County will venture away from home to take on Lewis County at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Roane County, they have already played their next match, a 67-53 victory against Clay County on the 13th.
