The Reedsburg Beavers will square off against the Stoughton Vikings at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
Stoughton will be up against a hot Reedsburg team: the squad just extended their winning streak to three. The Beavers never let Sauk Prairie get on the board and left with a 7-0 win on Tuesday. The Beavers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight matches by six runs or more this season.
Cheyenne Raupp and Gretchen Rockweiler made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Raupp didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. Meanwhile, Rockweiler pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two hits in nine consecutive appearances. At the plate, Raupp went 1-for-4 with two stolen bases and one run, while Rockweiler went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. That's the most RBI Rockweiler has posted since back in April.
In other batting news, Kylee Molitor was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, two doubles, and one stolen base. That's the most doubles she has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Rhianna Schommer, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Stoughton can bid farewell to their six-game losing streak thanks to their game on Friday. They were the clear victors by a 13-2 margin over Sauk Prairie. That looming 13-2 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Vikings yet this season.
Like Reedsburg, Stoughton also got a great game from a two-way player: Madelyn Barsness. On the mound, she struck out ten batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off five hits. Barsness was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two RBI.
In other batting news, Stoughton got a massive performance out of Emily Matheny, who got on base in three of her five plate appearances with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Madyson Verville was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.
Stoughton always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .514. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Sauk Prairie only posted an OBP of .360.
Reedsburg now has a winning record of 12-11. As for Stoughton, their victory bumped their record up to 6-15.
Reedsburg took their win against Stoughton when the teams last played back in April by a conclusive 13-1 score. Will the Beavers repeat their success, or do the Vikings have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
