Baseball Recap: Culver Academies Has No Trouble Against Laville

Culver Academies barely beat LaVille the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Eagles were the clear victors by a 12-3 margin over the Lancers on Wednesday. The Eagles might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten matches by eight runs or more this season.

Ainsley Ritchie was a standout: he got on base in four of his five plate appearances with three stolen bases and two runs. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Max Grube, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run.

Culver Academies always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .574. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as LaVille only posted an OBP of .394.

Culver Academies' win bumped their record up to 13-3. As for LaVille, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last eight games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-9 record this season.

Culver Academies will take on Argos at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Eagles are facing the Dragons at the right time seeing as the Dragons are stuck on a seven-game losing streak. As for LaVille, they will challenge Jimtown at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Lancers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Jimmies have averaged an impressive 7.9 runs per game this season.
