Basketball Recap: Saturday's Loss Ends Justin Garza's Winning Streak

If Justin Garza was feeling good fresh off their 77-55 takedown of Tulare Western last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Justin Garza Guardians took a 62-46 bruising from the Central Grizzlies on Saturday. While losing is never fun, the Guardians can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 292nd, while the Grizzlies are ranked 115th).

Central's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Sier Harbin led the charge by going 7 of 12 en route to 15 points along with five rebounds and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Gerald Perry, who went 8 for 16 on his way to 20 points and seven rebounds.

With the loss, Justin Garza broke their four-game winning streak and moved their record to 10-5. As for Central, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 13-5.

Justin Garza will host Washington Union at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Central, they will head out to challenge Clovis West at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
