Football Game Preview: Gregory-Portland Wildcats vs. Tivy Antlers

Two dominant backs in Cody Adame and Aiden Zavala are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Gregory-Portland Wildcats will be playing in front of their home fans against the Tivy Antlers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Tivy will be up against a hot Gregory-Portland squad: the team just extended their winning streak to six. The Wildcats simply couldn't be stopped on Friday as they easily beat King 78-0. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Wildcats' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 94th, while the Mustangs are ranked 1137th).

Carter Dominguez had another great game (as he tends to do), throwing for 170 yards and three touchdowns on only 11 passes, while also rushing for 46 yards and a pair of TDs. He is also on a roll when it comes to rushing touchdowns, as he's now punched in two or more in each of the last three games he's played.

Meanwhile, Tivy played a tough contest on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They had to suffer through a 62-35 loss at the hands of Boerne. The Antlers were already down big by the end of the third quarter and they stayed that way after failing to score in the fourth.

Gregory-Portland will need to focus on slowing down Kyrin Armelin, one of several Tivy players who made an impact when they last played. He picked up 121 receiving yards and two scores. Armelin didn't just play on offense: he also made three total tackles and defended two passes.

Gregory-Portland's win bumped their record up to 9-1. As for Tivy, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-4.
