Baseball Recap: Escondido's Loss Ends Four-Game Winning Streak on the Road

Escondido dropped their record down to 15-5 on Monday, which also ended the team's four-game streak of wins on the road. They fell just short of the San Dieguito Academy Mustangs by a score of 3-2. The Cougars were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Mustangs apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in March of 2023.

Escondido saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Augie Albert, who went 1-for-4 with one home run.

As for San Dieguito Academy, their win was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-5 and their overall record up to 6-16. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory they have posted since March 26, 2024.

On San Dieguito Academy's side, Patrick Krenkler made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run while striking out eight over seven innings pitched. Those eight strikeouts gave Krenkler a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

While Escondido had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
