Preview: Severn School Admirals vs. Maryvale Prep

The Severn School Admirals will head out on the road to face off against Maryvale Prep at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Severn School is no doubt hoping to put an end to a nine-game streak of away losses dating back to last season.

Severn School can now show off six landslide victories after their most recent match on Monday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Northeast 51-23 at home. Given Severn School's advantage in MaxPreps' Maryland basketball rankings (they are ranked 104th, while Northeast is ranked 233rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

LAYLA EPPS and VALERIE WAUGH were among the main playmakers for Severn School as the former scored 11 points along with two steals and the latter scored ten points along with seven rebounds and two steals. EPPS is trending in the right direction, as she's improved her point production for three games straight. The team also got some help courtesy of AMYAH HEYLIGER, who scored 11 points.

Meanwhile, Maryvale Prep didn't have too much trouble with Concordia Prep on the road on Friday as they won 39-23. That 16 point margin sets a new team best for Maryvale Prep this season.

Severn School is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 12 games, which provided a nice bump to their 13-7 record this season. As for Maryvale Prep, their victory bumped their record up to 2-5.

Severn School was dealt a bruising 51-15 defeat at the hands of Maryvale Prep in their previous meeting back in January of 2020. The game was all but decided by halftime, at which point Severn School was down 32-3.
