Basketball Recap: Violet Gordon Key Part of a Team Effort in Huskies Win

There's no place like home for Reno, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Monday. They strolled past the Damonte Ranch Mustangs with points to spare on Monday, taking the game 53-37. Given the Huskies' advantage in MaxPreps' Nevada basketball rankings (they are ranked seventh, while the Mustangs are ranked 49th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Reno's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Violet Gordon, who went 7 for 15 on her way to 17 points and five assists. Eva Houston was another key player, dropping a double-double on 13 points and 11 rebounds.

Reno smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've posted since back in January of 2024.

Damonte Ranch lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Kylee Moscove, who posted nine points and six rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Jazmine Monges, who put up seven points.

Reno has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matches, which provided a nice bump to their 10-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.0 points per game. As for Damonte Ranch, their loss dropped their record down to 1-12.

Reno wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 55-39 victory against Bishop Manogue on the 8th. As for Damonte Ranch, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 77-54 win against McQueen on the 8th.
