Softball Recap: Century Has No Trouble Against South Albany

The Century Jaguars got the win against the South Albany Redhawks on Thursday by a conclusive 12-1. The Jaguars might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three contests by 11 runs or more this season.

Alyssa Loza made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 16 over seven innings pitched. Loza was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 3-for-4.

In other batting news, Hailey Kinney and Hailey Jordan did most of the damage at the plate: Kinney scored three runs while going 3-for-4, while Jordan scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4. Kinney also hit two doubles, marking her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Jessie Henry, who scored two runs while getting on base in three of her five plate appearances.

Century always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .541. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

The victory made it two in a row for Century and bumps their season record up to 4-3. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 4 runs in those games. As for South Albany, they dropped their record down to 1-5 with the loss, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Century will square off against Bend at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. As for South Albany, they will face off against Aloha at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
