Volleyball Game Preview: Sycamore Aviators vs. Milford Eagles

The Sycamore Aviators will head out to take on the Milford Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.

On Thursday, Sycamore didn't have quite enough to beat St. Xavier and fell 3-2. The Aviators have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Sycamore wouldn't go down easily and took St. Xavier into a fifth set but they suffered a heartbreaking seven-point loss. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-12, 23-25, 27-29, 25-14, 15-8.

Meanwhile, Milford waltzed into their contest on Thursday with six straight wins... but they left with seven. They put the hurt on the Firebirds with a sharp 3-0 win.

The final score came out to 25-10, 25-14, 25-17.

Milford's win came from a few key players Sycamore will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Drew Ward, who had 18 digs and two assists. That's the most digs he has posted over his last eight matches. The team also got some help courtesy of Andrew Morgan, who had six digs and two aces.

Milford couldn't miss and finished the game having scored on 54.8% of their attack attempts. That's the best hitting percentage they've posted all season.

Milford pushed their record up to 20-2 with the victory, which was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season. As for Sycamore, they now have a losing record of 8-9.

Sycamore couldn't quite get it done against Milford in their previous matchup back in April as they fell 2-0. Can the Aviators avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
