Baseball Game Preview: Covington Lions vs. Riverside Academy Rebels

The Covington Lions will venture away from home to challenge the Riverside Academy Rebels at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Covington is coming into the contest on a four-game losing streak.

Covington managed to slip by Brother Martin the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Lions came up short against the Crusaders on Tuesday, falling 11-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Lions have suffered since March 8th.

Meanwhile, it's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Riverside Academy can now relate to. They fell just short of the Eagles by a score of 9-8 on May 13th. The Rebels' defeat signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Covington's loss dropped their record down to 20-12. As for Riverside Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 23-13.

Everything went Covington's way against Riverside Academy when the teams last played back in February of 2019, as Covington made off with a 10-2 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Lions since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
