Baseball Recap: Standley Lake Victorious

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Evergreen, Standley Lake was happy to have turned things around on Saturday. They skirted past the Dakota Ridge Eagles 11-9. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Gators considering their two-run performance the contest before.

Chris Blanco was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out seven batters over four innings while giving up three earned runs off only two hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-5 with one home run, five RBI, and one double. He has become a key player for Standley Lake: the team is 3-1 when he posts at least three RBI, but 6-9 otherwise.

In other batting news, Henry Moore was excellent, going 3-for-5 with two runs and one stolen base. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March. Aidan Rose also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Standley Lake kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Dakota Ridge only managed six hits.

Standley Lake's record now sits at 9-10. As for Dakota Ridge, the loss snapped their winning streak at four games and leaves them with a 9-11 record.

Coming up, Standley Lake will be playing in front of their home fans against Kennedy at 4:15 p.m. on Monday. The Gators' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Commanders have averaged an impressive 7.8 runs per game this season. As for Dakota Ridge, they will head out on the road to challenge Littleton at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
