Basketball Game Preview: Churchland Truckers vs. Northampton Yellowjackets

Having just played yesterday, the Churchland Truckers will get right back to it and host the Northampton Yellowjackets at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: both posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Churchland is headed into Saturday's game hungry for a win as their strong season has now been derailed by two straight defeats. They took a 72-63 hit to the loss column at the hands of Norview on Friday.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Northampton). They really took it to Chincoteague for the full four quarters, racking up a 100-29 win. The match was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 53-17.

Northampton's win came from a few key players Churchland will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Jaylen Anderson, who almost dropped a double-double on 17 points and nine assists. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in assists. Amir Bailey was another key player, going 7 of 12 on his way to 18 points along with six assists and three steals.

Northampton smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in four consecutive contests.

The victory was their first at home , bumping their record up to 2-6. As for Churchland, their loss dropped their record down to 8-4.
