Volleyball Recap: Paityn Mcauliffe's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Umatilla over Mount Dora

Umatilla extended their losing streak to four on Monday, dropping them down to 6-5. They came up short against the Mount Dora Hurricanes, falling 3-0. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Hurricanes this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-1 two weeks ago.

Umatilla lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Paityn McAuliffe, who had 11 digs. She has been hot, having posted 11 or more digs the last five times she's played. Another player making a difference was Kinley Wheeler, who had six assists and four aces.

As for Mount Dora, the victory got them back to even at 6-6. The win made it back-to-back victories for they.

Among those leading the charge was Skye Douglass, who had 11 digs and four assists. Cali Farmer also deserves some recognition as she posted her first assist of the season.

Umatilla has already played their next matchup (against South Sumter), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for Mount Dora, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 3-1 win against Forest Lake Academy on the 16th.
