Baseball Game Preview: Millennium Tigers vs. Desert Vista Thunder

The Millennium Tigers will square off against the Desert Vista Thunder on Thursday. Millennium is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.5 runs per game this season.

Millennium heads in on the heels of a playoff contest on Tuesday. They came up short against Casteel, falling 9-0. The Tigers' defeat signaled the end of their five-game winning streak.

Meanwhile, Desert Vista faced Liberty in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Tuesday. The Thunder's pitcher stepped up to hand the Lions a 4-0 shutout.

Not much got past Hagen Haefs, who gave up just two hits and racked up eight Ks to keep Liberty off the board. Haefs has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Sammy Skinner, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March.

Desert Vista has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-10 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Millennium, their loss dropped their record down to 21-9.
