Baseball Recap: Penn Yan Academy Mustangs vs. Geneva Panthers
Penn Yan Academy extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to eight on Wednesday, dropping their season record down to 0-7 in the process. They lost 20-3 to the Geneva Panthers. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Panthers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 13-3 on April 9th.
As for Geneva, their victory ended a five-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 3-6. The match marked their most dominant win of the season.
For Geneva's part, Alex Dorrington made a splash while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over five innings pitched. Dorrington has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with three stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI.
In other batting news, Geneva got a massive performance out of Sam Schading, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Those two runs gave Schading a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Cristofer Rangel, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs.
