Softball Game Preview: Boulder City Eagles vs. Canyon Springs Pioneers

Boulder City is a perfect 5-0 against Canyon Springs since March of 2022 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Eagles will look to defend their home field against the Pioneers at 3:30 p.m. The timing is sure in Boulder City's favor as the team sits on four straight wins at home while Canyon Springs has been banged up by 12 consecutive losses on the road dating back to last season.

On Friday, Boulder City beat Pahrump Valley 13-10. The victory continues a trend for the Eagles in their matchups with the Trojans: they've now won five in a row.

Payton Rogers was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 11 batters over seven innings while giving up five earned (and five unearned) runs off nine hits. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in March of 2024. She was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in three of her five plate appearances with one home run and three RBI. She is on a roll when it comes to RBI, as she's now brought in three or more in each of the last three games she's played.

In other batting news, Teya McDaniel was excellent, scoring two runs while going 3-for-5. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in RBI (three). Rhiley Beck was another key player, scoring three runs while getting on base in three of her five plate appearances.

Meanwhile, after soaring to 21 runs the game before, Canyon Springs was a bit more limited in their match on Thursday. They lost 17-2 to The Meadows School.

Canyon Springs' loss dropped their record down to 3-9. As for Boulder City, their win bumped their record up to 9-7.

Boulder City took their victory against Canyon Springs in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 17-2 score. Will the Eagles repeat their success, or do the Pioneers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
