California waltzed into their game on Tuesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They walked away with a 3-1 victory over the Monte Vista Mustangs. For the Grizzlies, this counts as revenge for the 3-1 win the Mustangs walked away with the last time they faced one another back in April of 2024.

California had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next three. The match finished with set scores of 24-26, 25-16, 25-15, 25-18.

Chase Dutcher paced California's offense, picking up 15 kills. Dutcher got some help from Beau Banta and his 34 assists. Finally, Dutcher was also a dominant defender, finishing with a team-high five blocks.

California's victory bumped their record up to 9-12. As for Monte Vista, their defeat was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-10.

California will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Mustangs: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
