Basketball Recap: Jordan Fox Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat KIPP DC Legacy College Prep

Avalon won the last time they faced KIPP DC Legacy College Prep and things went their way on Saturday too. The Avalon Black Knights walked away with a 72-65 victory over the KIPP DC Legacy College Prep Bulldogs. The win was all the more spectacular given the Black Knights' disadvantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 135th in Maryland, while the Bulldogs are ranked 11th in District of Columbia).

Avalon's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jordan Fox, who went 6 for 12 on his way to 17 points and five steals. The matchup was Fox's seventh in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Luke Arulefela, who went 6 of 11 en route to 15 points along with six assists and four steals.

Avalon's win bumped their record up to 6-8. As for KIPP DC Legacy College Prep, they moved to 8-3 with that loss, which also ended their seven-game winning streak.

Avalon didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, an 81-67 defeat against Lanham Christian on the 13th. As for KIPP DC Legacy College Prep, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, an 85-28 victory against Washington Latin Public Charter School on the 14th.
