Basketball Recap: Nardin Academy Sets Scoring Season-High Against East Aurora

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Nardin Academy). They came out on top in a nail-biter against the East Aurora Blue Devils on Friday, sneaking past 56-53. The win was some much needed relief for the Gators as it spelled an end to their four-game losing streak.

Nardin Academy got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Fiona Cusack out in front who went 7 of 16 en route to 19 points and five assists. The dominant performance gave Cusack a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Olivia Braun, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and 11 boards.

Cusack wasn't the only one working in the assists department: Nardin Academy was working as a unit and finished the game with 16 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Nardin Academy's win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 6-7. As for East Aurora, they now have a losing record at 2-3.

Nardin Academy will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Mount St. Mary Academy at 6:00 p.m. As for East Aurora, they will challenge Tonawanda at 7:00 p.m. on January 24th.
