Bucksport took a ten-run defeat the last time they faced off against Mount Desert Island, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Golden Bucks sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-1 victory over the Trojans on Friday. The win was nothing new for the Golden Bucks as they're now sitting on six straight.

Ryan Winchester spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on three hits and racked up seven Ks. He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Bucksport is 3-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 3-4 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Bucksport saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Trent Goss, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. Goss is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games he's played.

Bucksport's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-5. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.0 runs over those games. As for Mount Desert Island, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-5.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Bucksport will challenge Mount View at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Mount Desert Island, they will take on Caribou at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Vikings' pitching crew has only allowed four runs per game this season, so the Trojans' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
