Preview: Mercy Tigers vs. Norwich Free Academy Wildcats
Mercy is 9-1 against Norwich Free Academy since January of 2016, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Mercy Tigers will finish 2023 at home by hosting the Norwich Free Academy Wildcats at 5:00 p.m. Mercy will be looking to keep their six-game home win streak (dating back to last season) alive.
Last Thursday, Mercy humbled Career Magnet with a 54-18 victory. That 54-18 margin sets a new team best for Mercy this season.
Meanwhile, it was a hard-fought match, but Norwich Free Academy had to settle for a 32-30 loss against Killingly on Wednesday. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Norwich Free Academy has scored all season.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Brooke Bolles, who scored six points along with five steals. That's the first time this season that she grabbed two or more steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Selia Atchinson, who scored seven points along with six rebounds and five steals.
Mercy's victory bumped their record up to 4-1. As for Norwich Free Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 3-3.
Everything went Mercy's way against Norwich Free Academy in their previous matchup back in January as Mercy made off with a 53-28 victory. Does Mercy have another victory up their sleeve, or will Norwich Free Academy turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
