Basketball Game Preview: Westview Wolverines vs. Papillion-LaVista South Titans

The Westview Wolverines will face off against the Papillion-LaVista South Titans at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Westview is coming into the contest hot, having won their last six games.

Westview is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Nebraska's top teams: Creighton Prep, who was ranked 12th at the time (Westview was ranked 13th). Westview pulled ahead with a 51-50 photo finish over Creighton Prep on Friday. The 51-point effort marked the Wolverines' lowest-scoring matchup of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Papillion-LaVista South, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Friday. They enjoyed a cozy 70-52 win over Omaha Westside on Friday. The Titans pushed the score to 61-34 by the end of the third, a deficit the Warriors cut but never quite recovered from.

Westview better keep an eye on Bryson Bahl. He was instrumental in Papillion-LaVista South's win, shooting 4-for-6 from beyond the arc and dropping a double-double on 25 points and 15 boards. Bahl has been hot recently, having posted ten or more rebounds the last four times he's played. Reece Kircher was another key player, putting up 12 points along with six assists and five steals.

Papillion-LaVista South was working as a unit and finished the game with 14 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Omaha Westside only racked up six assists.

Westview pushed their record up to 13-1 with the victory, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season. As for Papillion-LaVista South, they have also been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 10-2 record this season.

Westview lost to Papillion-LaVista South at home by a decisive 72-54 margin in their previous meeting back in December of 2023. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Bahl, who dropped a double-double on 23 points and 16 boards.
