Baseball Game Preview: Edon Bombers vs. Gorham Fayette Eagles

Edon is a perfect 3-0 against Gorham Fayette since April of 2023 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Bombers will face off against the Eagles at 5:00 p.m. Edon will be strutting in after a win while Gorham Fayette will be coming in after a defeat.

Edon proved they can win big on Tuesday (they won by ten) and on Thursday they proved they can win the close ones too. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-2 victory over Pettisville.

Edon's win was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Max Radabaugh, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one double. Kadin Stantz also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

Meanwhile, Gorham Fayette was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their 14th straight loss dating back to last season. They came up short against North Central, falling 10-4. On the bright side, the four- run effort marked Gorham Fayette's highest-scoring matchup to date.

Caden Leininger was huge no matter where he played even without the win. On the mound, he struck out six batters over six innings while giving up three earned runs off six hits (and only one walk). Leininger was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two RBI and one run.

Edon now has a winning record of 5-4. As for Gorham Fayette, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-4.

Edon's speedy runners might be the difference in Friday's contest. The Bombers have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.9 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Gorham Fayette, though, as they've been averaging only 0.8 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Edon continue to outrun the ball?

Everything went Edon's way against Gorham Fayette in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, as Edon made off with an 11-3 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bombers since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
