League recap: Texas tops Marshall to extend winning streak

4A Region II District 14 recap November 5, 2013

Texas added to the longest winning streak in 4A Region II District 14 this week by beating Marshall, 45-0. The win marks sixth in a row for the the Tigers.

Texas took down the Mavericks 45-0 last week, the largest margin of any game.

Sulphur Springs's offense was unstoppable this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Larry Pryor threw for 313 and 5 touchdowns and Isaiah Lacy had 183 yards receiving. On the ground Willy Ivery chipped in 189 yards. Dillon Carpenter helped Sulphur Springs' passing attack out by catching 1 ball for 52 yards.

He went 14-24 with 0 interceptions.

Lacy was the best receiver in the league this week as the Wildcats topped Pine Tree. Lacy racked up 5 receptions for 183 yards. Carpenter helped Sulphur Springs' passing attack out by catching 1 ball for 52 yards.

Thanks to the talents of Pryor and Ivery, Sulphur Springs has been able to do all sorts of things on offense. Pryor is tops in the league in passing with 2,126 yards, while Ivery has rushed for 1,231 yards this season. Tops in the league in receiving yards is the Pirates' Mason Hays, with 883 yards on 37 catches.

A big matchup in the league this week will be when Barry Norton's team takes on Hallsville. The Tigers are currently in first, while the Bobcats are in third.

The top two defenses in the league will face off this season when Texas takes on Hallsville. The Tigers have allowed 89 points this season, while David Plunk's team has given up 294. Texas allowed 0 points last week as it bested Marshall.

Greg Owens' team led 4A Region II District 14 in scoring this week by notching 56 points on Pine Tree. Pryor ran for 177 yards in the win.
