Football Recap: Cushing Skates Past Oologah with Ease

Cushing waltzed into their matchup on Friday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Oologah Mustangs 49-21. The result was nothing new for the Tigers, who have now won three games by 26 points or more so far this season.

Roman Tucker continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, throwing for 223 yards and three TDs on only 16 passes. He also deserves a shoutout for his performance on D, making four total tackles and defending one pass in addition to snagging an interception. Cushing's leading receiver Bryce Ward was Tucker's top target yet again, picking up 88 receiving yards and one touchdown.

Cushing didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Lane Simpson and Tucker. Tucker is also on a roll when it comes to passing touchdowns, as he's now passed for three or more in each of the last three games he's played. Another thorn in Oologah's side was Kellen Fry, who picked up a sack and made 11 total tackles (3.0 for loss).

Cushing's win bumped their record up to 5-1. As for Oologah, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-4.

Coming up, Cushing will welcome Wagoner at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Bulldogs will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more points each contest than the last. As for Oologah, they will head out on the road to face off against Catoosa at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Mustangs will be up against the Indians' rather soft defense (which has allowed 47 points per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
