Softball Recap: Aurora Huskies vs. Waverly Vikings
On Saturday, the Aurora Huskies didn't have quite enough to beat the Waverly Vikings and fell 7-6.
Hannah Janda was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4. The team also got some help courtesy of Ashlyn Kottwitz, who went 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI.
Even though they lost, Aurora kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now hit at least nine hits in three consecutive contests.
Aurora's defeat dropped their record down to 12-7. As for Waverly, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 13-9.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Aurora's road trip will continue as they head out to face Blue River on Tuesday. Aurora is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.4 runs per game this season. As for Waverly, they will take on Norris on Monday. Norris will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something Waverly surely won't give up without a fight.
