Volleyball Game Preview: Black River Pirates vs. Firelands Falcons

Black River hasn't had much luck against Firelands recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Pirates will take on the Falcons at 6:30 p.m.

On Tuesday, Black River didn't have quite enough to beat Wellington and fell 3-2.

Black River took a 2-1 lead headed into the fourth set, but sadly they lost the next two. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-7, 20-25, 23-25, 27-25, 15-12.

Despite the loss, Black River got top-tier performance from Remington Dieter, who had 30 digs and two assists.

Meanwhile, Firelands waltzed into their matchup on Tuesday with eight straight wins... but they left with nine. They blew past the Raiders 3-0.

The final score came out to 25-16, 25-22, 25-22.

Firelands' victory bumped their record up to 14-5. As for Black River, their defeat dropped their record down to an identical 14-5.

Everything went Black River's way against Firelands in their previous matchup back in September, as Black River made off with a 3-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Pirates since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
