Softball Recap: Gallup Drops Highest Score of Season Against Chinle

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Gallup). Everything went their way against the Chinle Wildcats on Saturday as they made off with a 17-0 win. The victory was familiar territory for the Bengals, who have now won four contests in a row.

The team relied heavily on Jaylah Greene, who scored four runs while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in RBI (two). Mckenzie Notah was another key player, scoring four runs while going 3-for-3.

Gallup pushed their record up to 6-7 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Chinle, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-8 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Gallup will square off against Bloomfield at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Bobcats have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 13.07 runs per game on average), something the Bengals will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Chinle, they will face off against Monument Valley at 3:00 p.m. on Monday. The Wildcats' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Mustangs have averaged an impressive 10.5 runs per game this season.
